Session 6: Podcasts, Video & Downloadable Audio

Podcasts look really interesting. I hate the way I sound on the answering machine, so I doubt I would ever do one (famous last words!!!!), but i can certainly see how students could get very creative and productive with them.
Overview: Loved the class, but I wish we could use all this new knowledge on campus and on the district issued tablets. I tried to show my husband last night and half of what we learned was blocked. I have only professional reasons for using most of these Web 2.0 tools, but I would have to use my personal computer, on my time and still not be able to use some with my students. Great workshop! Thank you Annet, I learned a lot.

Session 5: Wikis and Online Production Applications & Tools

I think.... I want to do a book review wiki for my high school kids.... haven't quite thought out all the logistics, but I'll figure it out it. I think it might be even more effective than blogging.
BTW, if you like my avatar, you can create one here.

Session 4: Photos and Images

Wow! I've entered the 21st Century! Not only do I have a blog, it has a picture of me. I have two RSS links, another picture of me appears on the comments I post, and I have a flickr.com account. I have a del.icio.us account with lots of sites that have tags. The great thing is that two days ago, I would not have understood what in the world this blog was saying and now I can do it all. How empowering. I feel younger!

Session 3: Tagging, Folksonomies & Technorati

Del.icio.us is YUMMY!!! Love it, but very addictive. Hope we can use it at school, otherwise while great, it would be disappointing. I can't wait to organize sites in "units" and set up lists to share with teachers. I feel an inservice topic developing. With PC notebooks at KO next year, this will be a fabulous tool for staff and students.

Adding an RSS feed to your blog

Yes! You can subscribe to an RSS through your blog! Try this: In "Layout," click on "Add a Page Element." Scroll down to "Feed." In the box that appears, you will paste the url of the RSS you want to subscribe to. HINT: Click on the RSS button on the website you are subscribing to, in order to succeed.

Lesson 2: RSS

Yeeepeee!! I have a Google Reader account. I'm getting news from the Houston Chronicle and from one of my favorite "librariany" website - Librarian's Index to the Internet. I highly recommend that you subscribe to their RSS.

Session 1: Blogging

YEAH!!!! I'm in. That was frustrating, and yet rewarding. I am soooo very excited to use some of what I will learn this week. Thus my goals for the three days are:
1. Learn how to set up a blog to use with my students at Klein Oak so that we can discuss awesome books.
2. I would like to podcast about books and database and upcoming events and anouncements....
3. I need to keep up with the kids, maybe even stay a step ahead of some...
